Reading 12/19/11

I am reading "Eclipse" and I really like it so far. I am at the point where Bella is at the bonfire at the reservation and is listening to the stories passed down from generation to generation.

Reading 12-12-11

I am reading "New Moon" and I am at the part where Bella just found out about the wolves. I did watch the movie but I completely forgot that Edward disappeared, so when I read that I was a little surprised. I have started to think that Bella has separation anxiety, because she can't seem to live with being around some strange creature or transforming being, like Jake and Edward. Bella is starting to irritate me a bit because of that reason and also that she always seems to be nauseous. I cant wait to find out when Edward comes back because I don't remember the movie at all I want to learn what brings him and the Cullen's back to Forks.

Reading 12/5/11

I am reading "Twilight" and read the part where Edward basically tells her that he is a vampire with out actually saying it. This scene was completely different thean the one in the movie. The scene in the book takes place in Edwards car, where as the sene in the movie is in the forest and then Edward shows Bella what he looks like in the sun. In the book Edward has not showed her that yet. I think it is kind of crazy that Edward can totally trust some random girl with a super huge secret like being a vampire, he has only known her for like a couple of weeks, I just dont think that any regular person would share huge secrets like that with someone they just met.

Reading 11/28/11

I am reading the "Twilight" book, because I never have and I just saw the last movie. So far the book is good, it doesn't feel like the movie really came from this exact book though, the characters in the book seem a little different then they seem in the movies. I like to compare the scenes from the movies and find scenes that weren't in the movies too. I am still in the very beginning so I cant wait to read more.

Reading 11-21-11

I just started reading the book "Taken" by Edward Bloor. It takes place in the year 2035 and is about a huge industry of kidnaping kids and holding them at hostage until their parents pay money to get them back. So far the book is kind of boring and doesn't really seem to have a point, so I'm hoping as i keep reading it it will get more interesting and things will tie together in the end.

Reading 11-7-11

I finished the book "Thirteen Reasons Why." Throughout the whole book it didn't seem like a depressing book, especially when the topic was suicide, but by the end it started to get sad. I felt really bad that she new what she wanted to do so far in advanced and then recorded all of her feelings on audio tapes, and plan out exactly where the tapes were supposed to go. I was especially mad when she realized she had to go get help and give life one last try, so she went to her guidance counselor who didn't realize what she was going through or try to figure out how to help. That made me really mad because by the time she decided there was no going back and helping her.

Reading 10/31/11

I am reading the book "Thirteen Reasons Why" its about a guy who finds a box of cassette tapes in his mail, an on the tapes is a girl from his class who explains why she commited suicide. The tapes start at one person and then tell the person who has them who to pass them onto next. This is sad book, because of the way this girl planned all of these tapes and rules out before she over dosed. From what I read of her talking in the tapes she seems like a really nice girl who you'd think wouldn't let things bother her, but the sad thing is it did. The tapes create another side and story to bullying and rumors, but they are also said in such a way that the way she tells her stories creates a light mood and not an extremely depressing one. I can't wait to keep reading this book and find out where the tapes go next.

Reading 10/24/11

I finished the book "Aces Up" by Lauren Barnholdt. It was about a girl who was accepted into Wellesley University, but her father had recently lost his job so she decided to get a job at a casino. She needed a fake ID and birth certificate because she was underage, but the job paided more than serving tables at the local diner so she thought it was worth it. At the end of her first day on the job she was giving a note to meet someone in a hotel room as soon as possible. She went to the hotel room thinking it was a meeting for the new employees, but instead it was an invitation for an underground poker team (like the movie "21") She wasn't sure of the offer for a while but eventually she caved and joined this team, because she descovered that she coul make several thousand dollars playing poker in just a couple of weeks, and that would definately help with her college tuition. She started to get really good and she was running the numbers and combinations in her head faster and faster. Later on the "leader" of the team asks her to participate in fixing the World Poker Championship which would be held soon at the casino she was working at. She did't know what to do because she new that using signals to comunicate with other people at the table to win big was completely illegal. She decided to go along with it but she wouldn't follow any signals other team members were giving her, she would then try to loses one of the rounds and therefore would not have to play or be involved in it any more. IN the end she ended up turning herself in and also turning in the poker team she had been participating with. This book was kind of fun to read but also kind of frusterating because she kept making such a big deal of everything and she took for ever to make up her mind when she had a decision to make.

Reading 10-17-11

I started reading the first Harry Potter book because I have never read any of them before. It is kind of fun to read because I already basically know the story from seeing the movies. Although I am disappointed that it was "translated" to American, because it makes it more English if there are actually really English terms in it. I look forward to reading more.

10-10-11

I finished the book "The Last Little Blue Envelope" which is a sequal to "Thirteen Little Blue Envelopes." This book was about finding the last envelope and going back to Europe to find one last piece of artwork to be sold. I really like these two books, I love all of the places that they go visit and I think the author does a good job being accurate with scenery and names of places. I love to picture where they are and it makes me want to go to England even more every time I read these books!

Reading 10/3/11

I read the book "Water for Elephants." The first chapter was kind of funny because I thought that it was supposed to be about a man in a circus, but instead it's an old man in his nursing home. The author portrays every scene perfectly and very discriptively. I can picture what the people look like and the disgusting, baby food he is eating. I saw the movie and I can't wait to read the rest of the book.

Reading 9-26-11

I am reading the book "13 Little Blue Envelopes" and its about a girl who is sent 13 envelopes from her aunt, who recently passed away. In theses envelopes are letters explaining certain tasks that she needs to complete before going onto the next envelope. The first envelope sends her to London with a one way ticket. Each letter sends her to a different country/city. She goes to Rome, Spain, Denmark and Amsterdam constantly in search of something that has to do with art, because her aunt was an artist and she made up all of the tasks.
This book is really fun to read at the moment because I am in the middle of planing a trip to Europe with my friend this June. I really truely can not wait to go and I wish I could leave tomorrow and just go day by day touring and sight seeing (and getting a bit lost) like the character in the book.

Reading 9/19/11

Today I was still reading "Hate List" and the main character started to figure out that art was her way of getting away for a while. She loves art and found a little shop with a lady and started painting one after noon and totally lost herself in the painting. When she was painting she stopped thinking about life and how hard and confussing everything was at the the time and all of her stress for that oment went away. I think that she will be back to the little shop quite often and she will form a great relation ship with the lady who runs it.

9-12-11 Reading

Im reading the book "Hate List" its about a school shooting and the main character's boyfriend, Nick, shot several people on their Hate List, and later commited suicide. Today I read what had really happened during the shooting in the eyes of the main character. She walked into school with Nick and into the commons and she thought he was not acting himself, he had a weird smile on his face and was not acting normal. Later on before first period Nick goes to find a girl who was irritating Valerie, the main character, earlier in the week. Valerie thinks that he is just going to stand up for her, but instead he pulls a gun out of his jacket and shoots her. Valerie, along with everone else in the commons, goes into shock and start screaming. After Nick shot several other students on the List, Valerie steps in fronot of the next victim and gets shot in the theigh, Nick then turns the gun on himself.
I thought this was very sad and thought how confused and lost a person would have to be to do such a thing.
